The Executive Committee approved minutes of the last meeting held on 14 November 2009.

Preparatory work being done for holding the Seminar at the India International Centre on 12 February 2010 in memory of late Shri A.K. Dave, founder member of ARSIPSO, was discussed. Shri G.C. Saxena informed that Shri Farooq Abdullah, Hon’ble Minister, Government of India, has accepted the invitation to be the Chief Guest. Shri K. Subrahmanyam, the key note speaker, is fast recovering from his illness and has conveyed that he would be able to attend the Seminar. Shri Satinder Lambah and Brijesh Mishra have also confirmed their participation. Written invitations have been despatched to all of them.

It was proposed by Shri G.C. Saxena that the Seminar in memory of Shri S. Tandon may be held in April 2010; for which he would get in touch with Shri P. Chidambaram, Union Home Minister, to be the Chief Guest. There were detailed discussions regarding the topic for the Seminar. The discussions remained inconclusive due to differing views of the participants.

Shri B.S. Das informed the CDSP (Centre for Development and Strategic Planning) has started work on the problem of Naxalism. He suggested that ARSIPSO should sponsor a member to join the team working on the project. Some names including Shri A.K. Doval, Shri A.S. Gill, DG, CRPF, and Dr. P.M. Nayyar, I.G.-Operations, CRPF HQ, were mentioned. Shri B.S. Das informed that he would communicate with Shri Rajiv Mathur, Director-IB, about it with reference to earlier correspondence in this regard. He asked Shri A.P. Bhatnagar also talk to DIB personally about it. Shri G.C. Saxena advised that it would be useful to meet Shri Rajiv Mathur over a meal, to discuss this matter and other issues of interest.

The report regarding the website was discussed in the meeting. The fact that the number of hits has consistently been high was appreciated. It was also discussed as to how the website could be made more interactive. Shri S. Banerjee suggested that this could be done by introducing the system of blogs in our website which is not there at present.

Pursuant to our earlier meeting with Shri Siddharth Varadarajan, Strategic Affairs Editor of The Hindu, regarding the aim of ARSIPSO to involve the media for the purpose of police reforms, Shri Sankar Sen and Shri S. Banerjee met him in his office on February 03, 2010. Shri Varadarajan agreed to take the matter forward and assured to draw other members of the media for this work.

The meeting ended with a vote of thanks to the Chair.
